Karts to Go |

I'm 16 and I'm about to start spring break but i don't want to sit around all day watching tv so i was thinking of making a go-kart but i want to look at a guide with diagrams or videos or something to help me get started. i need some help with making the Frame and installing the throttle and stuff like that, also if anyone has any ideas about how i can get a engine that would be great i was thinking a 10-15hp engine but sadly i don't live in the US and i don't have much access to Ebay and scrap yards so i don't really know where to look. any Guide for the basics would be good, the thing bothering me the most is the throttle and the brakes.

well i have never welded before, i do fix bikes and mess around with stuff like that tho =/

Are you mechanically inclined ? do you know how to weld ? Are you good with small engine repair ? If not , i suggest you try and buy a used one and take it from there. much easier to build it the way you want it. good luck

Is it a down shaft or side shaft motor?
either way you will have to replace the mower blade with either a gear or pulley, to transfer the power to the wheel.


but as far as just putting it on the frame, you just bolt it down.

I have got a golf cart that someone customized. I want to bring it back to somewhat normal. All I need is the top part of a golf cart to set on the frame. I am from Florida. Let me know.

They obviously have to remove the original parts in order to do the customization so I would imagine that they would have an inventory of original parts.

i have a old 18hp engine that i plan on tuning up some on a old lawnmower and im either just going to use the lawnmower frame or im going to weld together my own frame from some pipes and put a roll-over bar and id also probably add a little bed in the back for carrying camping/hunting supplies so what do you think i should make a racing mower or a go cart?

I think you should just sell the engine and buy an ATV.

how much hp would the engine need for nos to work?

You probably could but why waste the money. the nos system would cost more than your cart is worth plus a 5hp motor could not stand a blast of nos, without turning into a hangernade. Just buy a bigger HP motor would be cheaper.

Im looking for a Vespa scooter GS,Rally,Sprint,or PX200 that is in running cond to trade my Emmick go-kart and many extras for. I have a complete kart, an extra engine(both Yamaha KTM 100) extra exhaust,frame wheels and misc parts. Almost enough to complete an extra kart. Its a very fast kart and lots of fun. Electronic temp and spedo gauge in mounted on steering wheel center. Nose, and steering wheel fairings, rear and side wheel guards.

Impossible to answer – you would need to supply plans to get a half decent estimate of quantity.

Would need – size of cart – weight to be carried – engine type etc etc etc.
