Within the last 2 weeks I have taken delivery of a new Ketler Nitro Extreme Go Kart, bought from a company I have used before on the Internet. The main body was already put together, just the wheels, seat and steering wheel needed attaching. This was a present for my sons’ 7th birthday last Wednesday. We gave it to him on his birthday, earlier today when he was riding it, the chain snapped, he continued pedalling not realising what had happened, the chain continued wrapping itself around a cog, cracking the undercasing of the go kart. What are my rights, the go kart is for 7 – 12 year olds and it cost £150.00, and this was just normal useage am I entitled to a replacement?

Under the sale of goods act the item must be durable and fit for the purpose sold, as this was not the case you are entitled to a repair or a replacement. If you have any problems contact your local councils trading standards department who will chase them up on your behalf.
