off road go kart?

I’m looking for plans to build an off road go kart. The kart will be a "mild" kart, able to run through the sand dunes, the dirt trail and rock terrain. I would like it to be a 2 seat design with full susspension, front and rear independent. I’m thinking of using a yamaha 450 as the motor, any suggestions on where to find a decent plan?

GO TO @@ ubuilditplans.com @@ The plans for the 2 seat suspension kart
the (SII) are kinda spendy… but awesome suspension
{ ramping, travels great, 2 seat, sweet-o kart~~
~Good Luck~

I want to get into go kart racing (track karting) but dont no where to find or what kart to get to begin with?

I would like to get a realtively cheap kart ( around the £200 mark or below) but stilll it being decent and good for races…

If you have a local kart track, they should have a loaner kart you can try. You might have a local kart club that organizes the racing season, there will usually be someone selling their old karts so they can buy new ones. The kind of kart depends how old you are. If you want to compete, you have to fit into a racing class.. Check the WKA website. Im not sure if that is only for the States but if you email some one on that site im sure they will help you.. Good luck.. I love karting. Im 30 years old and I drive a 125cc honda shifter kart..

Hi,

I think I have found a website you are looking for. Here is a link to the construction plans for a single seat go-kart.

This site also explains the different parts you might need. This is the home page for the site. (Note* Scroll all the way down for the navigational links)

Removing or Adjusting The Governor On a Tecumseh OHH60 Engine?

I would like to know how to make my GO kart faster without hurting my engine… I thought about a new carb., piston, exhaust, and a new head but i couldn’t find any parts for my Tecumseh OHH60 engine. So i thought i would remove the Governor. How do i do that
Well i don’t want to hurt it to bad

E is right, don’t fool with the governor.

You can alter speed by changing the final drive ratio. Put a sprocket with more teeth on the engine this will make it go faster. However, you won’t have as much power. As the speed increses of a fixed drive system, the power drops, and vise-versa.

Good luck.

Stevo.

Who can mount my motorcycle engine to a go kart?

hi my name is asif and i am building a go kart with a Yamaha 600cc engine. I have the go kart frame and the engine, but I’m confused on how to extend the back of the kart. This is because the engine is very large and heavy. I have everything I need to make it run, but do you know anyone who will be able to install the engine to the go kart? The work should be very simple. I’m very desperate to know where I can get it installed. It just needs drilling and screwing with brackets. How much would it cost for someone to do the job? I have all the electrics with the motor.
If I am not able to mount the engine I would offer this engine for sale. Do note that the engine iis very powerful – topping 130 mph – 72hp..
But I have a sprocket for the axle on the go kart which is longer than a usual go kart sprocket. And it would be too large for the chassis, as it would be touching the ground. What should I do?
Would that mean that I need larger rear wheels? But I don’t want to do that?

This is all work you can do yourself. You can construct the brackets from some plate steel, attach that to channel steel and attach the channel to the gokart frame. It’s pretty straightforward stuff.

With that engine and the level of experience / forethought you’re bringing to this project, I’m afraid you’re going to die. Not from doing the construction job wrong – you can screw up a lot and still get it to all hold together. But with that much muscle driving you, you’re liable to try to become One With Nature in a very bad way.

Follow-up: Reading your follow-ups it strikes me you’re making this thing up as you go. Just any ol’ sprocket on the axle, one that you happen to have but is bigger in diameter than the intended go-kart wheels, is Not Gonna Work. You’d need to add a jackshaft and step the ratio down again to where you can use a more reasonably-sized sprocket, or yes, you’ll need bigger wheels and tires on the rear axle.

I strongly recommend you stop any and all work on this go-kart project of yours now, before you blow any more money on it. Go to some of the local sporting goods shops, Northern Tool, Pep Boys – anyplace that sells go-karts. Look at those things carefully, puzzle out how they made those things work. Then draw your design on a blank sheet of paper and follow your design in a comprehensive fashion, not following the whims of what chance sends your way in the form of random parts.

That, or sell that engine and go buy one of the ready-made carts. You’re less likely to die that way.

How do I install a radio in a golf cart?

I am attempting to install a radio in a golf cart we use at our camp for kids with disabilities. The golf cart runs on six 6 volt batteries so I have installed one 12 volt battery in the back to operate 12 volt accessories. I’m not sure how to properly ground the 12 volt accessories. Can I run a line from all the 12 volt accessories to the negative terminal of the 12 volt battery? or, can I ground the negative terminal of the 12 volt battery to the frame of the golf cart and ground all the accessories to the frame? Any special tricks to grounding the radio antennae? Sure would appreciate any good advice. Thanks

it would probably be better to ground all the 12 volt stuff directly to the battery so you dont get any weired interference issues. good luck
