Please, I need help with my 150cc go kart anybody good with engines please help.?

Wednesday Nov 4, 2009

One year ago I received a 150cc, two seater go kart that has forward and reverse as a gift. There is NO TRANSMISSON on this go kart. Now whenever I accelerate or go uphill the engine misses or skips and acceleration is slower then when it was brand new. The oil was just changed and I suspect that it may be because the chain is too loose. The go kart has never been in an accident and has anywhere from 15 to 20 hours on it. Whoever knows something please help I would hate to find out that something is seriously wrong with the engine after all it is only one year old.

Could be several things.

First check and make sure that your air filter is clean enough and isnt severely blocked. You should replace it if its too dirty. While your checking it you should blow the dirt off with an air compressor if you have one. If you dont just wipe out what you can with your finger. Dont rip the filter though.

Make sure your spark plug wire is connected and isnt like cut in half for whatever reason… Make sure the spark plug is in decent condition and is sparking. To do this…

take the spark plug out, keep it connected to the spark plug wire, holding the spark plug wire touch the spark plug bottom to one of the head bolts and pull the starter rope to see if there is a nice spark.

make sure that the carberator is clean enough. I had a small engine once that wouldnt run good enough until i used my air compressor and blew out a lot of the carberator parts. got tons of dirt out and it ran fine.

Next make sure the gas isnt old, old gas can cause poor performance.

Also make sure that the fuel line (if it has one) isnt blocked by something.

If its not any of those things you’re carberater could be adjusted wrong and you’ll have to get someone around who knows who to set it right.

If the carberator is adjusted right it could be something like your exhaust valve is closing to late, or its sticking open slighty, or it could be the intake. Just have to troubleshoot it and see what works. Good luck man.

I have nothing except for some tools, grinders, cutters, drills. What engine should I use? I’m a little low on money so I want to go as cheap as possible. Also, does anyone know where is there a track where i can race it near Chicago, IL?

could try this site.
