Career in Motor-sports?

Wednesday Jul 21, 2010

It’s still an idea in the making, so I was hoping for some input from the yahoo community.

For the first time ever, I sat behind the wheel of a "high-speed" go-kart at a track, and did 3 races.. It was my first time racing, ever, except small amusement park kiddie-karts, and I was 2 seconds from being the fastest car on the track overall.

This made me wonder, I may have potential for a career in motorsports.

Anyone have any good input about this idea? Anyone have anywhere I can start? I live in the Northern California area, and any input local would help, although I’m looking at anything that can get me into even small stuff.

The track up here has leagues, where they do a six-week championship on Wednesday nights at 7pm, which start up in 2 weeks.

Problem is, it’s $200 to register a team, you have to come up with 3 other people, and it’s $25 a racer, per racer.. $800 bucks total, either to be spent by one person or each get their own chunks.. However, I’m not sure this is the best way to get into it.

I was advised also by an employee there that teams do pick up stranglers for their race teams during championships, I was thinking that may be a good way to get in cheap and get noticed, as well. But how many serious-motorsport scouts sit at go kart races picking people out?

Anything?

The track you mention sounds like an indoor arrive and drive place, and its a great place to get started. I don't quite understand the team racing format you describe, but my local indoor track has individual championships which costs around $500 for a season.

Unfortunately there are no scouts at these places, at least not any that are looking to hire drivers. However, there are probably people involved in many different levels of the sport, so you can use it as an opportunity to develop connections.

Indoor karting is great to get your feet wet but if you're serious about a career as a driver you need to move up from there. I feel the two best options are serious outdoor karting, or pro racing schools. northern california is a good place for either of these options. For karting, I know of IKF region 7 or PKC maybe others too. For racing schools, look into Skip barber at Laguna Seca or Jim Russel at Sonoma. Unfortunately, you will probably have to fund all this out of pocket.

I have a lot more information about all this on my blog, check out http://www.aracingdream.com. Feel free to ask me any questions there.

Birthday Ideas For Seattle Washington Or Sounding Areas?

Saturday Jul 17, 2010

So my brother is turning 18 and needs idea for his birthday party. We live in Washington & can pretty much go anywhere in the state for his party.
And I’m not looking for idea’s like, "cigerettes" and "strip club" just because he’s 18. So none of that stuff. Just give me some unique idea’s. It can be anything.

These are idea’s I already brought up:
-Laser tag
-Cheap Dinner Cruise

-Space Needle
-Seattle Aquariam
-Pacific Science Center
-Go Karts
-Ice Skating (Lolz)
-Ride The Ducks
-Silverwood Theme Park
-Great Wolf Lodge
-Dinner Train(s)

Dont worry about price. Just give me something unique & fun

Those ideas you have are pretty nice. Another option is taking a boat from Seattle water front to Victoria Canada http://www.clippervacations.com/

Ladies, which of these is the best date idea for me and my gf?

Tuesday Jul 13, 2010

been together 4 months and she wants to not only hang out more but also go out more. Usually we just chill either at my place or her parents place, playfight, cook dinner, watch a movie, etc. and have fun in general. Once in a while I take her to play put put golf, go karts, etc.

So for tomorrow I have these options:

Comedy Club: Cost $24 for 90 minute show

Park: something she suggested, close to her house. But wth to do there? She likes to play footbal and mentioned that I could chase her…COST? ZERO.

Waterfront: also something she suggested. Beaches there, but not much to do, just restaurants and we will already have eaten at her parents and she does not drink. COST? ZERO.

OTHER PARK: my idea, they have batting cages, laser tag, go karts, put put golf, (golf and go karts we already did other places) but it is dirt cheap and a huge park with a fair ammount of stuff to do.

Paintball: Fun, borth short duration, COST: $40!!!!

I am open to other suggestions…
She loves to laugh btw…
yeah the cheaper the better, for the last 4 months she has liked doing anything as long as we do it together, even if it is hanging out at my place, but we have gotten into a routine with that…need to go out more…

I would like Water Front best,
You would have more special time alone.
To me it would be much more romantic
than the other choices.
It’s not how much you pay, but the pleasure you get from it,

Which of these date ideas for me and my gf?

Thursday Jul 8, 2010

She says we should go out more rather than staying in most of the time. So for tomorrow night these are my options.

Comedy Club: Cost $24 for 90 minute show (she loves to laugh)

Park: something she suggested, close to her house. But wth to do there? She likes to play footbal and mentioned that I could chase her…COST? ZERO.

Waterfront: also something she suggested. Beaches there, but not much to do, just restaurants and we will already have eaten at her parents and she does not drink. COST? ZERO.

Paintball: fun, but short duration, COST: $40!!!!

I am open to other suggestions…

Well, if she wants to go to the park, have a picnic , or something new, take her to the zoo, then have lunch, glad that I can help

HOw Much Are Cingular/At&t prepaid sim?

Sunday Jul 4, 2010

HOw Much are They if i go to the Store Cingular or Go to the Mall? What do you think is cheaper Store or Mall( the Cellphone Karts) and Do they sell them Seperately jus The Sim card because i have they phone. Also would it be in my area code because i live in Santa clara Ca 95051 and my area code is 408. So would the Number still be in the 408?

If you need to replace your sim its going to be $25 they will assign your current number to the sim card and off you go.

If you need a new sim and a new number your going to be looking at the same charge its a standard charge no matter at the ATT store or at the mall

Buying a go kart tips HELP! THANKS!?

Wednesday Jun 30, 2010

I’d really like to get myself a go kart, i don’t want to spent a lot of money and i don’t really care if the top speed is 35 km/h all i want is a good quality kart, if someone has a used one that works good then i might be interested, or else where are the best deals for karts pieces ect.. and would it be cheaper to buy the kart piece buy piece or all in one? I live in quebec city Canada, the less us stores and offers please!

Unless you build your own by making it from scratch,
buying parts you need, or scrounging them, a go-cart
can be an expensive item. Finding what you need in
the way of a frame kit, and then adding what you
would need extra would be the least expensive. Even
then, some kits can cost over $2,000. Used, or
clearance items from companies can start out at
about $200.

I have listed a couple sites where you can get an
idea. The Geocities site should be viewed very
soon as Geocities is closing down, and that site
will no longer be online. Check it out, and if you
might want info from that person you can get
hold of him so you know how to get him when
Geocities is no longer operating.

http://www.geocities.com/gocartkits/index.html

and

http://www.tres-angle.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=GFOM&Category_Code=CLEAR

These links should be direct links to those sites.
Go-carts can be fun, and there is much you can do to
make them just a fun thing, or an off-road monster.
Good luck!
