New and Improved Electric Go-Kart Project

0 New and Improved Electric Go Kart Projectwe re-vamped the electric go kart. it now goes faster and looks cooler, now in red!

this a short video of the electric go kart. We started out with a gasoline powered go kart frame/kit, and converted it all to electric then assembled it. it took about 6 weeks, and it still isn’t completely done. It uses a Kelly PWM controller and a MET motor running on 24v.

4WD hybrid electric go-kart (4 motors) – Part 1

0 4WD hybrid electric go kart (4 motors) Part 1Four wheel drive petrol / electric hybrid go-kart, Independent adjustable height suspension, home built PWM drive. 4 x 300W 24 volt motors. Petrol motor changes & maintains batteries, drive circuit controls alternator voltage and stops motor stalling under max load.

Just changed to 4 x 1Kw motors, will post an update, really, when starting up the 1kw motors are putting out a lot more (probably 1.5kw), the old 300w motors were putting out more like 500w on start up, got very hot, fine on flat ground but in the mud etc they could burn out (I melted one) just as well the PWM is an overkill. With the 1Kv motors it feels like it will go anywhere and knocks you back in the seat when it takes off. (I will see if it goes anywhere and post the video!)

Comet Torque Converter Electric Go Kart

2 Comet Torque Converter Electric Go KartThe drive side didn’t push out the belt completely until the motor was hooked directly to the batteries through relays first through 24 volt and then finally through the 48 volt relay. Go kart has a homemade frame driven by a 36 volt caterpillar motor if anyone recognizes it please tell me the model so I can find the specs. Its controlled by a 36 to 48 volt Curtis controller that just doesn’t have enough umpff to power this large motor it is only used for taking off then I use the relays to accelerate. More videos coming soon.
